Marriage License Registration

Welcome to the Cuyahoga County Probate Court Marriage License Registration page. Registration is mandatory and will expedite the process of issuing a license by allowing couples to enter most of the information required to obtain a marriage license in the State of Ohio.

The marriage license is valid for sixty (60) days from the date of issuance.

Upon completion of registration, you will receive a confirmation number. Your registration information and confirmation number is valid for 90 days. For issuance of the license, you must have your confirmation number, a valid government issued photo ID, and all the fees necessary to purchase the license.

All applicants are required by law to appear together for the Probate Court to obtain their marriage license and stay present for the duration of issuance of the license.

This is NOT a ceremony.

Marriage licenses are being issued in person at the Courthouse. For applicants that are medically compromised limited online Zoom appointments are available.

In the State of Ohio, the application for a marriage license must be made in the county of either applicant. If neither applicant is a resident of Ohio, the application must be made in the county in which the ceremony is being performed.

Pursuant to Local Rule 53, all pleadings requiring a new case number or the payment of court costs shall be filed by 4:15 p.m. We advise that you come by 4:00 p.m. to ensure enough time for the issuance of the license.
